  • Abstract
    The Sea Surface Height Anomalies (SSHA) from the Geodetic mission are derived from the Jason-1 IGDR, which has a 3-5 day time lag from measurement and a 10 day repeat. The instruments on Jason-1 make direct observations of the following quantities: altimeter range, significant wave height, ocean radar backscatter cross-section (a measure of wind speed), ionospheric electron content (derived by a simple formula), tropospheric water content, and position relative to the GPS satellite constellation. This data product does not edit out the flagged data, such as values over land and is up to the user to edit those values out. Since this is an interim product there are larger errors in the data. If you require more accurate data that can be found in the GDRs which are available after a 4-6 week time lag from measurement.
