The system, based on a previously successful design, will incorporate weather and climate sensors, camera, snow and firn sensors, instruments to measure ice motion, ice and ocean thermal profilers, hydrophone, and salinity sensors. This new system will have two-way communications for real-time data delivery and is designed for rapid deployment by a small field group.UnknownIt is unknown if this record has a DOI.2017-04-21T00:00:00.000ZAMIGOS-II will be capable of providing real time information on geophysical processes such as weather, snowmelt, ice motion and strain, fractures and melt ponds, firn thermal profiling, and ocean conditions from multiple levels every few hours for 2-4 years. Project personnel will conduct a field test of the new system at a location with a deep ice-covered lake. Development of AMIGOS-II is motivated by recent calls by the U.S. Antarctic Program Blue-Ribbon Panel to increase Antarctic logistical effectiveness, which cites a need for greater efficiency in logistical operations. Installation of autonomous stations with reduced logistical requirements advances this goal. Not providedNSIDC_AGDCACTIVEPOLARCANADAGREENLANDUNITED STATES OF AMERICAANTARCTICAARCTICfalse2014-06-01T00:00:00.000Z2015-05-31T23:59:59.999ZARCHIVERNSIDC_AGDCNSIDC AGDCUSER SERVICESDATA CENTER CONTACTDISTRIBUTORNSIDC_AGDCNSIDC AGDCUSER SERVICESDATA CENTER CONTACTARCHIVERNSIDCNSIDCUSER SERVICESDATA CENTER CONTACTDISTRIBUTORNSIDCNSIDCUSER SERVICESDATA CENTER CONTACTTECHNICAL CONTACTTEDSCAMBOSINVESTIGATORNSIDC AGDCUSER SERVICESTECHNICAL CONTACTEARTH SCIENCECRYOSPHEREGLACIERS/ICE SHEETSEARTH SCIENCECRYOSPHEREGLACIERS/ICE SHEETSGLACIER ELEVATION/ICE SHEET ELEVATIONEARTH SCIENCECRYOSPHEREGLACIERS/ICE SHEETSGLACIER MOTION/ICE SHEET MOTIONEARTH SCIENCECRYOSPHEREGLACIERS/ICE SHEETSGLACIER TOPOGRAPHY/ICE SHEET TOPOGRAPHYEARTH SCIENCECRYOSPHEREGLACIERS/ICE SHEETSGLACIERSEARTH SCIENCECRYOSPHEREGLACIERS/ICE SHEETSICE SHEETSEARTH SCIENCECRYOSPHERESNOW/ICEEARTH SCIENCECRYOSPHERESNOW/ICEICE MOTIONEARTH SCIENCECRYOSPHERESNOW/ICEICE VELOCITYEARTH SCIENCECRYOSPHERESNOW/ICESNOW COVEREARTH SCIENCECRYOSPHERESNOW/ICESNOW/ICE TEMPERATUREEARTH SCIENCEOCEANSOCEAN CIRCULATIONEARTH SCIENCEOCEANSOCEAN TEMPERATUREWATER TEMPERATURENot providedNot providedNot providedAWSAutomated Weather SystemCURRENT METERSGPS RECEIVERSTEMPERATURE PROFILERSFIELD INVESTIGATIONNot providedNot providedFIELD SURVEYSNot providedNot providedLABORATORYNot providedNot providedmetadata.uuidSTRINGNot providedacf1a27f-7686-4e83-8db0-c7a434082958metadata.extraction_dateSTRINGNot provided2015-12-02 14:16:12metadata.keyword_versionFLOATNot provided8.1NSF/PLRDivision of Polar Programs, National Science Foundationhttp://nsidc.org/research/bios/scambos.html
