Research is mainly related to the Ross Sea area where theItalian summer station is located ( Terranova Bay, Lat. 74 41'42'S,Long. 164 07'23'E). The first expedition was run in late 1985. A Joint National Scientific Committee for Antactica analyzes allthe research proposals from the different research institutions (CNR, ENEA,Universities,...), then decides which are in line with the internationalSCAR recommendations.
