PSC was established in 1978 at the end ofthe multiyear Arctic Ice Dynamics Joint Experiment (AIDJEX), a majorNSF/ONR program. In 1982 PSC was incorporated into the Applied PhysicsLaboratory, a multidisciplinary research facility.
