    <skos:definition xml:lang="en">Ice depth or thickness refers to the extent of the ice below the surface ofthe water. The term is also used in river and lake ice studies. Remotesensing techniques (particularly radar and microwave) have been used toestimate ice thickness as have recently declassified submarinemeasurements of polar ice thickness.</skos:definition>
