    <skos:definition xml:lang="en">An electric field is the region in which electric forces can be observed, e.g.
near a charged particle.  As a field, it may also be viewed as a region of
space
modified by the presence of electric charges. An electric current is a
continuous flow of electrons and/or ions, through a material which conducts
electricity. A current usually flows in a closed circuit, without beginning or
end. In daily life, currents are generally driven through wires by voltages
produced by batteries or generators.  In space plasmas, currents are
produced by the movement of charged paricles in the presence of a 
magnetic field.</skos:definition>
